The Small Business sponsored by the democrats and signed by President on Monday has a provision that isn't receiving -'n in the press but has a big impact on you if you are or plan to receive social security retirement benefits. This eliminates the social security and medicare payroll tax businesses pay. These taxes are the sole source of funding the social security trust fund. With no revenue, the social security trust fund go bankrupt. Your social security retirement benefits even though you've paid into the system for years and years are in great jeopardy. It's not quite as bad as I'm implying here. This current only eliminates the employer's portion. The employee still pays his/her own. And this provision only applies to new hires and is temporary. However, be warned, now this is started, it be almost impossible to stop. All tax bills have to have payroll tax holidays for businesses in order to pass the Republican filibuster process. Trying to kill social security outright didn't work in the Bush administration, so the plan to which the politicians enjoy gleeful day dreams every day is that eventually they'll eliminate all the payroll taxes, and they're be no revenue stream into the social security trust fund, and social security die a quiet death. don't let this happen!
